I wish Nintendo would officially localize and release some of the older FE games in the west, but there probably aren't enough anime waifus in those games to make them worth the trouble. The current one for that game once again falls under the very generous purview of "functional".

The team that made this translation has also said they hope to work on Thracia 776 after this patch is complete, which is good news since the translation available for that game is pretty infamous for being rather poor.Ī new Thracia 776 patch would be fantastic.
It seems that Awakening and Fates have expanded the Fire Emblem fanbase to the point where there are now a lot of new fans that are going back and creating proper translations for the older entries in the series, which is really exciting to see.

Even so, it is pretty awesome that this classic entry in the Fire Emblem series has finally gotten a full English I was trying to be nice in my post but yes there was a lot of room for improvement in the old patches for Holy Wars. The patch is still in "beta" so the team is releasing regular updates that fix various bugs people are finding, so some might want to wait until the final patch is released before jumping in.
I began playing Genealogy of the Holy Wars at the beginning of the year and luckily my save file works fine with the new translation, which so far seems to be a big improvement over past attempts to translate this game. However, thanks to this team's efforts, the game can finally be played from beginning to end entirely in English, graphics and all. There have been other English patches for Holy Wars available for years but they were unfinished and didn't translate everything. The translation team consisted of people from throughout the United States, France, and Austria, who all pooled their expertise and talents to make this patch a reality. The folks from Project Naga, who have been creating a text translation of this game for some time, and DDSTranslation, the guy that created the patches for Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei as well as Romancing SaGa, released a beta patch for their translation of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy Wars. Project Exile represents a grand collaboration between many people from across the world, none of whom have ever met in person. To use this add-on, see the included Readme. This allows the player to reorder the deploy menu, allowing you to freely reposition units in later chapters, just as later Fire Emblem games allow. In the spirit of transparency, complete PDFs of the entire script can be found via a link in the Readme.Īlso of note is the inclusion of Robert of Normandy’s Unit Ordering Patch as an optional add-on. In addition, the script has been written from scratch, using a new translation done by Cirosan. It makes Thracia 776 playable in its entirety, and was created using the remnants of Kirb’s patch as a foundation and merging Zane Avernathy’s menu translation with it (as well as receiving considerable technical advice from him). Project Exile is a full translation patch which affects all chapters, all menus, all items, all epilogues, the intro and outro crawl, the world map, and much more. Thracia 776 has long been the FE community’s white whale, but not anymore.
